Today I saw a video that I can relate to but now that I am natural it means much more. Indie Aire" I Am Not My Hair". A lot of people might say it is very cliche for someone who has just turn natural to feel this way " I am not my hair". Personally when I had my hair relaxed I still had question such as "do folks like me more because my hair is straight?","am I more attractive?" etc. It may be cliche but it's true. Does having straighter hair make me a better person, better friend, better worker, better role model ? Of course it shouldn't be that way but there are people who judge people by their hair. If W folks can wear their natural long silky straight hair, why can't B folks wear their kinks and curls ? I'm just saying....Hair doesn't make the person

I Want To Go To The SPA !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Meanies,

For the whole summer all I can think about is going to the SPA. I have went once with my Mom and it was an experience I will never forget. The environment feels sooooo damn good. You go in and literally forget about what happened yesterday and last week. With that being said, there is a song that I love so much by Goapele "Closer". I heard it yesterday and instantly I zoned out and went somewhere surreal...lol. Great feeling. Some songs just take you to another place. Whenever I get the chance to go back to the SPA, I need to hear that song while getting rubbed down....lmao

Mom Dukes Natural ?

Good Day Meanies,

I spoke to my Mom today and of course she can go on and on and on. Before I completely zoned out, she said something interesting. My Mom has not relaxed her hair since October 9, 2009. This Saturday will be her one year Nappyversary.

I'm sure you're wondering how she inserted that into the conversation. Well she was telling me how when she gets off of work she wants to get her hair twisted. So I asked "you're getting extensions ?" she replied "no I'm just twisting my hair". I asked how much is it ? $50 !!!! My reaction was of course, WTH Mom I can do that for you. I can braid and twist, you shouldn't be paying $50 to twist your own hair with no extensions. She said she was not relaxing her hair anymore. Honestly for as long as I can remember, my Mom would go months at a time without a relaxer, she just hates it.

So when my Mom gets off work I will be doing her hair and I'm actually excited so I can share all of the new found knowledge I have learned since I went natural over a month ago. By the way, she doesn't know I cut off my hair and went natural. This shall be interesting... :-D

Never make yourself too available. People like mystery and the thrill of the chase when dating. As part of keeping up the mystery, do not sleep with your dates early on. The longer a person is made to chase and fall for you within reason, the more likely that love may blossom. (And yes, this goes for both men AND women!) If the chemistry peaks too early, your emotions may never have time to catch up and the relationship will eventually wither away.

Are You Interested Are What ?

Hey Meanies,

So I have been thinking lately how unbelievable annoying it is for tons of folks
to be interested in a particular person but that person is not
interested....lmao hope that makes sense. What I'm saying is, doesn't it drive
you crazy that someone is always interested in you and you're never interested ?

I swear every guy that has some kind of interest in me, I don't feel that way
about them. It's like beating a damn dead horse. All I can say is WTH. I'm the
kind of person that you can't wear down to go out with you etc. Some guys think
"oh I can change your mind" etc. No the hell you can't..lol. If I don't like you
in that way it's not going to happen. Everyone has a type it can be sad but it's true WE ALL have a type, and I NEVER stray away too far from what I like. That's just me !!!!

How unfair is it for guys to be interested all the time and I can NEVER find someone with the same mutual feeling. Weird ! I must say that most of the guys I like, I think they're at the top of the pedestal while I'm in the middle. I don't like to compare but it's real and sad.

People think about what level each person is on individually first before looking at how the relationship will work. I get that to a certain point but what about love? Why should how much I make? What kind of job I have? what kind of car I drive? do I eat pork ? lmao overshadow the love we can make. Just something to think about.

When Are You Going To Have Children ?

Hola Meanies !

So I'm sure some of you hear this question often "When are you going to have
kids ?" I'm at my breaking point of answering this damn question. I have been hearing this question since I was 20 yrs old. I think folks only care about reproducing instead of trying to change the world. I'm not going to give you something to talk about. People will be overjoyed to say OMG she is young and living under her parents roof with a child etc. I wouldn't give them the satisfaction. Yes I have been on my own since I was 20 but that doesn't mean I should be reproducing all because you want something to talk about.

Honestly how is it that when folks see you this is the first question. What happen to "how are YOU doing?", " how are your friends doing?", " what's new?", what are your
plans for the future pertaining to a job/career/business?", NOT "when are you going to have children?". I'm tired of it !!!!

If you know me very well, you know that school & career is always on my mind. It takes up 85% of my brain. I don't have the AMERICAN dream which is house,
marriage & children. If you've notice school/career/businesses is no where in
that plan for a lot of people.

When someone asks me this one damn question, I
answer "just because everyone else is taking the risk of getting pregnant or
getting an STD doesn't mean I have to", "I have 7 nieces & nephews why do I
have to have children, "having children is not the only thing to do in
life", "how do you know if I want to have children",
and are going to help me raise any of the children". Why is it such a big deal
to a lot of people.

You have family members that force/constantly talk about it
because they want children not you. I'm soooo sorry but my life is a script and
I'm the writer. So stop friggin asking.
